Kiara and James, Waters Edge Bunbury

Sometimes the weather has other plans, and that's okay.

Getting ready

Kiara got ready at her grandfather's house before heading to Waters Edge Bistro & Function Centre on Bunbury's stunning waterfront.

A rainy day, and indoor confetti

It was pouring with rain by the time we arrived, the kind of heavy South West rain that wasn't going anywhere in a hurry. But here's the thing about a great venue and a couple with a good attitude, it doesn't matter.

The team at Waters Edge were wonderful. Rather than an outdoor ceremony, we moved everything inside and they gave us something a little unexpected, permission to throw confetti indoors. It made for some genuinely joyful and colourful images that we wouldn't have got on a sunny day outside.

By the end of the evening the rain had finally cleared and we snuck outside for some photos along the waterfront.

A couples shoot around Bunbury

About eight weeks later, Kiara and James and I caught up again for a proper couples shoot around Bunbury, taking our time to explore the city and get the outdoor portraits we missed on the day.

It's something I'd recommend to any couple whose day doesn't go quite to plan weather wise. Some of my favourite images from their whole wedding story came from that afternoon.
