Karen and Justin, A Backyard Cowboy Wedding in Collie
There is something special about a wedding at home, and Karen and Justin's backyard in Collie was exactly that. No venue, no formality, just their own patch of ground, 60 of their favourite people, and a day built entirely around them.
The theme was cowboy, and they went all in. Boots, hats, the works. It ran through everything and gave the whole day a relaxed, easygoing feel that suited them perfectly. This was never going to be a stiff, buttoned-up affair, and it showed in every part of it.
December in Collie turned it on for them too. Hot and sunny from start to finish, the kind of classic WA summer day that makes a backyard wedding sing. Guests spread out across the yard, drinks in hand, and the whole thing had that easy rhythm you only really get when people are in a space that means something to them.
I spent eight hours with them, which gave us plenty of room to capture the day as it unfolded, from the getting ready through to the celebrations kicking on into the evening. A relaxed day like this is my favourite kind to shoot. You get out of the way, let it happen, and the moments come to you.
Congratulations Karen and Justin. Thanks for having me along for a cracker of a day.
