Adrienne and Aaron, Swings and Roundabouts, Yallingup

Swings and Roundabouts in Yallingup is one of those South West venues that gives you everything in one spot. Vines, space, and a setting that does half the work before you even lift the camera. Adrienne and Aaron got married there under clear blue sky, and the day could not have gone better.

How we met

I first met Adrienne and Aaron at their friends Emma and Jayden's wedding at Evedon Lakeside Retreat. That is one of my favourite ways to end up booked. You spend a day with people, they see how you work, and then a while later their names turn up in your inbox. There is a lot less to explain when a couple already knows what to expect from you.

Getting ready

Adrienne and Aaron hired an Airbnb and spent the morning of the wedding together, which is becoming more and more common and honestly makes for a much calmer start to the day. No split locations, no running between houses, just everyone in one place.

Aaron headed off to the venue before Adrienne got into her dress, so they still kept that first look for the ceremony. Best of both worlds. You get the relaxed morning together and you still get that moment when he turns around and sees her walking down the aisle for the first time.

The ceremony

The ceremony was held in the vineyard ceremony area at Swings and Roundabouts, with Agostina Dadone and the team looking after the day beautifully as always. Rows of vines behind them, sun overhead, seventy guests watching on. Every one of those seventy had made the drive down from Perth, which tells you something about how much these two are loved. Three hours in the car each way is not a small ask.

March in Yallingup can go either way, but this one delivered. Sunny, warm, and bright right through the ceremony.

Portraits at Wyadup Rocks and Injidup

After the ceremony we took a short drive out to Wyadup Rocks and Injidup for portraits. If you have never been, this stretch of coast is something else. Granite formations, that deep blue water, and rock pools that catch the light in a way you cannot fake.

It is one of my favourite spots in the region for couples portraits. The scale of it does something to the images. You get these wide frames where the couple is small against the coastline, and then you turn around and shoot tight in the rocks and get something completely different. Two very different looks from the one location.

We came back to Swings and Roundabouts for the rest of the portraits, using the vines and the grounds as the light dropped.

The reception

Reception was back at the venue, and the first dance is the one that stuck with me. Adrienne and Aaron danced to "I'm Still Here" by John Rzeznik, from Disney's Treasure Planet. Not a song I had ever shot a first dance to before, and not one most people would think to pick. That is exactly why it worked. It meant something to them, and you could see it.

Thinking about Swings and Roundabouts

If you are looking at Swings and Roundabouts for your own wedding, it is a strong choice. Ceremony and reception in the one place, the vineyard setting, and you are only a short drive from some of the best coastline in Western Australia if you want to head out for portraits.
