Kristy and David's Old Broadwater Farm Wedding, Busselton

Old Broadwater Farm in Busselton has become one of my favourite South West venues to shoot at, and Kristy and David's wedding is a great example of why.

I actually came into this one already knowing the family. I'd shot the wedding of a close friend of theirs and loved working with that whole group, so when Kristy and David got in touch I was rapt to be part of their day too.

By the time they got married, Kristy and David already had two kids together, a boy and a girl, which gave the whole celebration a different kind of warmth. This wasn't a couple just starting out. It was a family making it official, surrounded by the people who'd watched them build a life together.

That sense of family ran through the whole day. Relatives travelled in from all around Australia to be there, filling Old Broadwater Farm with the kind of energy you only get when people haven't all been in the same room in a long time. There's something special about photographing a wedding where the guest list represents years of relationships rather than a fresh group of acquaintances, and it showed in every candid moment.

Old Broadwater Farm itself suited the day perfectly. The rustic farm setting gave Kristy and David's wedding a relaxed, unpretentious feel, exactly the kind of backdrop that lets a genuinely happy family celebration take centre stage without competing for attention. If there was one thing to plan around at this venue, it's the sound limiter on the reception. Worth keeping in mind when briefing your DJ or band so the dance floor doesn't get cut short.

If you're planning a wedding at Old Broadwater Farm or anywhere else in the Busselton and South West region, I'd love to help capture your day. Get in touch to check availability.
